Family Dynamics

Family shapes who we are in profound ways. This assessment explores your family dynamics, including patterns of communication, emotional expression, boundaries, and the roles you've taken on. Understanding these patterns can help you recognize how your family experiences influence your current relationships and personal development. This test examines enmeshment versus autonomy, support systems, conflict patterns, and generational influences to provide insight into your family's unique dynamics.

Info About This Test

Based on the Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Circumplex Model of family systems. Measures five key dimensions of family functioning: communication patterns, emotional expression, boundaries/autonomy, support systems, and conflict resolution. Uses profile scoring to identify family system types (balanced, enmeshed, disengaged, rigid, chaotic, supportive) and individual family roles (caretaker, peacemaker, rebel, hero, scapegoat, lost child). Scoring algorithm calculates dimensional averages, applies thresholds for classification, and determines both primary family system type and secondary role based on pattern combinations.

This assessment explores family patterns and dynamics based on your perceptions and experiences. It is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace professional family therapy or counseling. If you're experiencing significant family conflict or distress, please consider speaking with a licensed family therapist or counselor.
